ABOUT US

The Chinese Community Challenge Cup (CCC Cup) was started in 2010 by Alan Lau.

Alan originally created a 5-a-side football team for the London Chinese Community Centre. Having slowly built this up, he eventually created the tournament to help raise awareness and generate additional funds for the Chinese Community Centre Youth Program.

The first tournament started in 2010 and had only 16 teams. It has grown every year and in 2016 there were 32 teams with over 350 participants and spectators involved. In 2015 the first ever Ladies tournament was held and was a major success!

With the rise in popularity, the tournament had to be split up into several trophies, akin to The Champions League and Europa Leagues. We now also have the CCC Saucer and the CCC Ladle trophies.

In 2017, we are making the tournament bigger and better! We will now have two tournaments, one in London and the other in Manchester. Each of which, are individual tournaments, so teams are still competing to win their respective trophies.

However, the Cup semi-finalists of each tournament (a total of eight teams) will compete against each other in one ultimate Super Cup! Think of this as The Confederations Cup and the London and Manchester tournaments are the regional championships. Click here to find out more about each tournament.

Every year we invite a special guest to present the winning award; so far we have had representatives from our sponsors & media partners, Miss China UK and Miss Pearl of Asia invited and we are actively looking for other special guests to be involved.

In 2018, two senior representatives from the Chinese Embassy, Lu Hai Tian and Wang Xiao Wei, came and met the finalists at the London tournament. They then presented the trophies and prizes to the winners and runner-ups. Counsellor Lu Hai Tian said this after the final "I was very impressed with the event today and the teams played very well. It was great to come and see this".

We do not believe in barriers in sports, so there is no limit to nationality, race or creed. Anyone and everyone is welcome to either take part, volunteer or simply just to watch!
